My Process: From Brand Brief to Viral Video
One of the most common things I hear from Houston business owners is, "I want a video but I don't know where to start." That's totally normal — and it's exactly why my process exists. Here's how we go from "I have a business" to "That video just got 100K views."
Phase 1: The brief
Everything starts with understanding your business. Not just what you sell, but why someone should care. During our discovery call, I'm listening for the things that make you different — the story behind the business, the personality of the owner, the experience customers have when they walk in.
I also need to know the goal. A video designed to drive bookings looks different from one designed to build brand awareness. The brief defines the destination — everything else is the route.
Phase 2: The concept
This is where creativity meets strategy. Based on the brief, I develop a concept — the type of video, the hook, the format, and the platform. I pull from a proven library of formats that work:
- Business Reveal — First look at a location, product, or new offering. Great for grand openings.
- Day in the Life — Follow the owner or team. Builds trust and personality.
- Before & After — Transformation content. Perfect for salons, contractors, fitness.
- Customer Reaction — Real reactions captured live. Restaurants and experiences love this one.
- Trend Adaptation — Your business spun into a trending format or audio. Works for everyone.
I don't just pick a format randomly — I match it to your brand, your audience, and what's performing right now on the platform we're targeting.
Phase 3: The shoot
I come to you. Whether it's your restaurant kitchen, your salon floor, your office, or a Houston location we pick together — I bring the gear and the energy. Most shoots take about an hour. I direct, I film, and I make sure we capture the moments that'll make people stop scrolling.
The best content comes from real moments, not staged setups. I keep things natural and conversational. If you're nervous on camera, I'll coach you through it — most clients are surprised how easy it feels once we get rolling.
Phase 4: The edit
This is where the raw footage becomes a weapon. I edit for the platform — TikTok gets a different pacing than Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts. The hook lands in the first second. The story arc keeps attention. The CTA drives action.
Text overlays, trending audio, color grading, transitions — every element is intentional. The goal isn't to make it look like a Super Bowl commercial. The goal is to make it feel like something you'd share with a friend.
Phase 5: Post, track, iterate
I post the video at the optimal time for Houston audiences and track the performance. For one-off packages, you get the final metrics and the video files. For Brand Ambassador clients, the data from each video feeds directly into the next month's strategy.
What worked? What got shared? What drove DMs? We double down on winners and adjust the losers. Over time, we build a content engine that consistently drives results for your business.
The formula behind the formula
Every viral video I've created follows the same core principles:
- Hook in the first 2 seconds — stop the scroll immediately
- Emotion or surprise — make them feel something
- Clear story arc — setup, reveal, payoff
- Strong CTA — tell them what to do next
- Good audio — trending sound or clear voiceover
- Clean visuals — lighting, framing, movement
Simple in theory. Hard to execute consistently. That's why businesses hire someone who does this every day.
