Behind the Scenes: How I Create Viral Videos for Local Brands

People see the finished video — 30 seconds of scroll-stopping content that makes a Houston business look incredible. But what they don't see is everything that happens before I hit record. Here's a look behind the curtain at how a Misssouthernqueen video actually comes together.

Step 1: The discovery call

Every project starts with a conversation. I want to understand your business, your audience, and what outcome you're looking for. Are we driving foot traffic? Getting DMs? Building brand awareness? The goal shapes everything — from the hook to the edit.

This is also where I ask questions that might surprise you: What do your customers love most? What's the thing you wish more people knew about your business? That's usually where the best video ideas come from.

Step 2: Concept and planning

I don't just show up and wing it. Based on our conversation, I build a concept — what kind of video, what format, what hook, what platform it's going on. Sometimes it's a business reveal. Sometimes it's a day-in-the-life. Sometimes it's a trending audio with your brand baked in.

I also scout the location ahead of time when possible. Lighting, angles, background noise — all of that matters. Houston has incredible variety, and I know which spots make businesses look their absolute best on camera.

Step 3: Shoot day

This is the fun part. I handle everything on set — direction, filming, energy. Most shoots take about an hour, sometimes less. I keep things loose and natural because the best content comes from real moments, not stiff scripts.

I'm looking for the small details that make people stop scrolling: steam rising off a plate, a barber's first cut of the day, the moment a customer's face lights up. Those micro-moments are what separate a good video from a viral one.

Step 4: The edit

Editing is where the magic really happens. I cut for pace — short-form video lives and dies in the first two seconds, so the hook has to hit immediately. I match the energy to the platform: TikTok gets a different vibe than Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts.

Text overlays, trending audio, transitions, color grading — every element is there for a reason. The goal isn't to make it look "produced." The goal is to make it feel like a recommendation from a friend who just discovered something amazing.

Step 5: Post and track

I don't just deliver the video and disappear. I post it, time it right for the Houston audience, and track how it performs. Views, shares, saves, comments — and most importantly, whether it's driving the action we set out to create.

For Brand Ambassador clients, this data feeds directly into the next month's content strategy. We double down on what works and pivot away from what doesn't.
